it started as a small swirl in her stomach barely noticeable, just a flutter of unease.    bunny had a big breakfast that morning, brushing it off as gas.   by noon, she was curled up on the couch in her room cradling a large translucent plastic bowl on the floor.    the kind meant for popcorn on movie nights, now pressed into service for something far less pleasant.   the first wave hit fast and hard.    bunny barely had time to take a breath before her body convulsed, retching rapidly.    her shoulders hunched as liquid poured from her mouth in thick, sickly bursts, splashing into the bowl with a hollow, watery sound.       bunny shook her head weakly, then gagged again.    another rush came up loud, high-volume, and relentless.    her fingers clenched around her ankles.   as if it were the only thing anchoring her to the earth.   in between breaths, tears streaking her cheeks.    her stomach felt like it was flipping inside out.   time passed in a haze of nausea and misery.    every time bunny thought it was over, another heave belched out of her throat.    she stopped trying to keep track of how many times she’d filled the bowl.   whatever bug she’d caught, it wasn’t letting go easy!!!
